We believe the bible is the word of God and is the final authority in all matters of life and faith.
We believe in one God who exists in three persons, The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus is the only Son of God, and his death on the cross is the only atonement for sin.
We believe that people are saved by grace through faith in the death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We believe that people express their belief and commitment to follow Jesus by baptism, as a believer, by immersion.
The Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter.
There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God as Father reigns with care over His universe, according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise.
Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived among people, and although he was subjected to temptation just as we are he never sinned. He was crucified as a substitutionary atonement, raised to life by the power of the Holy Spirit, appeared to his disciples in a glorified body, ascended to the Father, and will one day come again to rule God's people.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. He inspired men to write the Scriptures. He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin. He calls men to the Savior, and effects new birth. At the moment of salvation, He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.
In other matters of doctrine, Open Gate Cowboy Church seeks to abide by the Baptist Faith and Message, 2000 edition, and by the Bible as we understand it.
